Error messages using ITV Player on Android

Error 1403 ITV Help

Are you trying to watch ITV using the ITV Player on your Android device, but you just get these annoying error messages coming up?

There are a few things that you should know before you continue reading, but the most important is that ITV is only possible to watch from within the United Kingdom. In other words, if you try to watch ITV from outside the UK you will get a different error message telling you that it is not available from outside England. Also, you will not even be able to find the ITV Player application in the Google Play Store, due to the fact that you are not in England. But, there are ways to download the ITV Player application anyway, and you can read more about those here.

But, let us say that you have the ITV Player application on your Android device and now you want to watch ITV, either a live stream or maybe some program that aired a couple of days ago. You start the application and now there are different error messages coming at you. Here are some error messages that might come.

The solution to most ITV error messages

First and foremost you will need to be located in the United Kingdom. If you are located outside the United Kingdom you will need to give ITV the impression that you are still located in the United Kingdom for this to work. But, it ain’t that easy, because ITV seems to block SmartDNS providers on Android. But, it seems right now as if you can use ExpressVPN to watch ITV also on your Android device. In other words, you will need an ExpressVPN subscription, download their VPN client to your phone and connect to a server in the UK. Make sure to close the ITV app and restart it once you are connected to a UK server. As you restart the application it should work properly and you can watch ITV on your Android from abroad.

I have just tested this method again today (February 6th, 2020) and it gave me access to all live streams and on-demand programs in the ITV Hub app for Android.

Typical ITV error messages. The solution already described!

ITV Player Error message 135:

We’re sorry, something went wrong – please try again (135)

ITV Player Error message 135:

We’re sorry, something went wrong – please try again (310)

ITV Player Error message 1403:

We’re sorry, something went wrong – please try again (1403)

These are my favorites and the ones I have bumped into most times. I do not have official knowledge on what these error messages really mean, but based on my experience here are what might be recommended to do and hopefully, the messages will disappear. By the way, if you have more knowledge on this subject, please write a comment and let me know! The number one solution to all these problems is to do as mentioned at the start of this article and get yourself a VPN subscription to ExpressVPN.

Other steps to take

The VPN step mentioned at first is 95% the solution that will help you out! But, you can also try these ones!

  • Set your time zone to UK / London on your phone.
  • Turn of the GPS on your device.
  • Delete all data for the ITV Player.
  • Restart your phone.

These should help you out, at least it is working for me now and I am able to watch any program on my Android device in ITV Player from outside the United Kingdom.

Please write if you have questions, other error messages that you want help with, or give us feedback if this has helped you on the way!

    1. Are you saying me that you have a HideMyAss subscription and have their application on your Android device? Have you tried connecting to any of their servers in England? Do I understand you so that you already have the ITV application installed?

  1. I have just updated the article with a new VPN provider, as the previously mentioned (HideMyAss) did not work anymore. But, if you follow the instructions above you should be able to get rid of the Android error message and watch ITV online on your mobile from abroad easily!

    1. I just followed your instructions, and they still work, meaning that I can get access to the live streams and programs on demand in the ITV Hub app using ExpressVPN from abroad, without any error messages!

    1. I just tested the method described on this website, and it works perfectly… Follow the instructions, give it a try, and please let me know if it still doesn’t work for you. But, it should work, at least it does for me, and now I am ready to watch the FIFA World Cup matches in the ITV HUB application as well abroad!
