ITV is a leading TV channel in the UK and a channel packed with amazing TV shows, sports events, talent competitions, and some of the hottest TV series available.

ITV isn’t only a great channel for those in the UK, but also if you want to watch it from abroad. They have quite a lot of shows available on their live stream, and lots of shows which can be seen later from their library. Like most other TV channels out there they protect their online library and live stream, restricting them so that they are only available to people with an IP address in the UK. This can of course easily be bypassed, meaning that you can watch ITV from wherever you are in the world. All you need is an IP address in the UK.

As you try to watch ITV from abroad you will first be shown a screen where you need to register an account. It will probably look something like this:

register for ITV
You need to register in order to stream ITV online

It is free to register, so just go on and start the sign-up process. It is very important to register your account with a UK postal code, for example, SO143LN, DA12 0JC, M25 9HR, L4 0TH. As you type one of these the show will go on for a few seconds, but then you will get the following message.

You might see an error message looking something like this if you try to watch ITV from abroad

Now it is time to get that UK IP address, which will lead to the fact that you will be able to watch your favorite ITV programs.

Watch ITV from abroad with a UK IP

To get an IP in the UK and make it look as if you virtually stay in England, then a VPN is a great solution. I have written lots of articles about VPN services and have used them for a long time, and one of the things I often do is watch football matches live on ITV when they are broadcasted. A VPN will connect your computer to a server in the UK, and once connected, you will get a UK IP address, and next time you try to watch ITV from abroad you just add the postal code, and once that is done you will not get an error message anymore telling you that this video is not available to play in your region. Instead, you will be able to see the program and stream you wanted to watch all the time.

When I want to watch ITV from abroad I normally use a VPN service named SurfsharkVPN. They have fast speeds, loads of servers in the UK, a cheap subscription fee, and servers in tons of other nations as well. It is very easy to set up, so if you go ahead, you can watch ITV in less than 10 minutes from now. Visit the SurfsharkVPN site and try it yourself today.

How to watch ITV HUB on Android devices?

If you want to watch ITV on your Android device, you will first need to download the ITV Hub application. This can only be found on the Google Play Store if you reside in England. To bypass this, download the application here. Install the application, and run it. That is it!

How to watch ITV Hub on Apple devices (iPhone and iPad)?

It is a bit more tricky to watch and get your hands on the ITV Hub application on Apple devices, but it can still be done. For this to work, create a brand new Apple ID with an address in the UK. You can create a new Apple ID at this site. Once you have created the ID, go to settings on your Apple device and change your Apple Store ID form your former Apple ID to the brand new one. Once you have signed in with this, you will get access to the content available in the UK Apple Store, which again means that you can download the ITV Hub application.

Once you have downloaded the application, you can log in with your “real” Apple ID again and live life as if nothing ever happened. But, should you ever need to download something from the UK Apple Store again, simply log in with those credentials!

  1. I have read on some other blogs that it is better to use a SmartDNS service than a VPN provider if you want to stream ITV. Is that so? They say that a SmartDNS is faster and better, while the VPN will slow your connection down, and create lots of buffering. But, you say that a VPN is the best option. Please help me out!

    1. That is a great question Melissa! The truth is that a SmartDNS might work out well, but not always. There are especially big problems if you try to stream the ITV Hub application on Android and IOS devices with a SmartDNS subscription, and in most cases it will not work. You can try signing up for Unlocator if you want to (click here to visit the website ), but personally I find it much easier with a VPN connection.

A VPN might slow down your connection a bit, but I have tested this several times, and using PureVPN I have had no problems streaming ITV from abroad, so I can warmly recommend it!

  2. If I sign up with PureVPN, can I then use it one several devices at the same time? I would like to use it at my cell phone, but my father wants to stream ITV on his computer in the living room. Is that possible?

    1. Sorry about my late answer! You can use your PureVPN subscription on as many as five devices at the same time, so what you describe here shouldn’t be a problem at all!

  3. Thanks for these instructions! I am on summer holiday and wanted to check up on my favorite show, when I discovered that I couldn’t stream ITV outside the UK. Thanks to Google I found this page, and using PureVPN I can perfectly stream my favorite content.

  4. I will be in Italy during the World Cup, but thanks to these instructions I am now ready to watch the FIFA World Cup matches not only on ITV, but also on BBC (as they work for both channels). Thanks!

  5. Thanks so much for this! I saw on one of your other articles that you mention ExpressVPN to do this as well. Do you have a favorite? Any advantages of one over the other?

    1. Hello Sharon,
well, I sometimes recommend ExpressVPN and sometimes PureVPN. Both are easy to use and will get the job done. PureVPN is cheaper than ExpressVPN, but sometimes, ExpressVPN is faster. The latter is also better at giving access to different Netflix regions. In other words, while PureVPN will only give you access to American NEtflix, you can actually get access to around 5 different Netflix regions with ExpressVPN.

But, if the sole goal is to watch ITV abroad, PureVPN is both cheaper, and maybe also easier to use!

  6. Just updated the article, PureVPN doesn’t seem to be a good and constantly working solution anymore, so I, therefore, recommend using SurfsharkVPN instead!
